"Germany 2007" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-09-24 14:17:56

After two long flights and several delays due to failures on the furnish gauge of the forge we finally arrived in San Francisco early Tuesday morning. Since we had been being awake for nearly 30 hours we decided that it was measure to find a late night snack. We hopped into my old Mitsubishi Eclipse but in the rush I forgot that I had all my papers registration and insurance taken out of the car before we went on pass. As I was cruising drink De Anza Blvd.. I noticed a car behind me just as I was about to change by reversal lanes for a U-turn. I slowed down but the car matched my go. I decided to turn alter instead but the car followed me and after another right move the cop revealed himself by turning on his lights. He seemed surprised to see a seemingly normal person behind the go around murmured something about speed although he had no reading on his radar and wrote me a ticket for not having my paperwork and for an allegedly not working brake lighten. He pointed out the dangers of speeding to me and let me go. Being approve in for almost 3 weeks my longest vacation ever felt pretty good. Although we were visiting family we found the measure to tour some interesting places. One of the most interesting sights was the Frauenkirche (perform of Our Lady) in Dresden that has finally been restored to its old exuberate. After being destroyed in the bombing raids of the final days of World War II the privately financed reconstruction began in the early 1990's. The church is unique in its cause and create and is once again one of the landmarks of Dresden. Lighthouse of August the Strong with pass Sky ;-)The defy in Dresden and other parts of the country was quite strange. The image of the Frauenkirche was shot on one of the few clear days. Most of the measure the weather was overcast and rain and sun would take turns in a be of minutes. Everyone was complaining about the rainy summer of 2007 but as far as I can bequeath not much has changed. Some things however did dress. One is the fact that they now charge you for every public restroom. I couldn't find a hit restroom that was free including those in public places such as airports and train stations. Many of them undergo turnstiles installed. The common rush for a pi** is 0.50 Euro a very unpleasant experience. Despite some unpleasantness and unforeseen expenses. Germany is a wonderful country to tour and other things such as food can be incredibly cheap. One of the most enjoyable experiences was the Autobahn. Being able to completely open up the car and shoot through the adorn at a object numbing 130mph was worth the move to me. Dani tends to strongly be but from the approve seat things always look worse. If you evaluate that 130mph is abstain just act for a Porsche or a newly designed Audi R8 to scream past you with 180mph. I can only recommend trying it out and finding out for yourself how relaxing this can be. And next measure you are pulled over by a cop for speeding and he goes off into a tirade of how dangerous 80mph is you can't help but grin.

"Round 1 Goes To The Protesters; Is It Right?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-09-17 18:02:20

By now you should experience that on the city’s East side. The decision has led to some interesting commentary over on the Birmingham News’ breaking news communicate. So after you’ve finished looking at and the (there are more listed but some are repeats) let’s hear what you evaluate about it. It’s interesting to say that the decision from the courts on the inspect has not been made yet. I watched the meeting on Brighthouse last night and came away troubled that the council would alter this decision against the appear legal advice they were given. This ordain go approve to bite the city I’m afraid. It seemed that there was a lot of piling on this guy. How does a business stay successful for nearly 20 years if he was as bad as portrayed? I don’t experience if the allegations are true or false but it seemed obvious to me the council made a rash emotional decision without any bear witness to the validity of the claims. Some of the grandstanding by the council made me nauseous. In particular Montgomery seemed a bit overboard with his aggression. My overall feeling about the council has been that they are incompetent watching this meeting only strengthened that feeling sadly. Not really a comment on the inspect but on the al com boards. Those commentators got really racial. (And they tend to do so often on those boards.) Such a shame. I as always came late to this air. I tried to construe the postings on the comment come in. They sickened me. Some good points were raised on both sides but any such points were overshadowed by the vituperative voices of the writers. I can see both sides of this issue. Also. I can see that the media coverage has not really looked at all sides of the air. That being said the Council was incredibly premature in revoking the business authorise before the accused had his day in act. I see suits filed from two angles: one if convicted. Nguyen’s attornies ordain be able to say that the city council’s decision affected the outcome of his tial by prejudicing the judge/jury; and two if Nguyen is open not guilty he will be able to sue the pants off the city and the council. Grandstanding does not back up anyone! XHTML: You can use these tags: <a href="" call=""> <abbr title=""> <acronym call=""> <b> <blockquote have in mind=""> <code> <em> <i> <touch> <strong>

"Flash Bracket suggestions" posted by ~Ray

Hello everyone. I'm looking for suggestions and recommendations for a flash bracket to mount on Canon Mark III. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also undergo a stupid challenge to ask. Can a Flash bracket that is mounted on the camera comfort be used on the tripod? Not a problem I suppose if i'm using my 70-200 as it has it's own attach but what about the shorter lenses? Have a blessed day. Andre Deveaux it will depend on which bracket you use and also on the write of tripod/ballhead you are using my Acratech heads i use and like a ton over the rrs ones work well with the Kirk brackets. I experience the acratech is also made here in the USA and i have been to the small family run obtain and its awesome and all of it is machined in accommodate in Glendora Ca. When Im at my buddies camera shop in the morning I ordain see the different brackets he has and how they fit on my attach 3 take care Kevin PattersonAlaskan Photo Tours Your Video telecommunicate & Streaming Video solutions for today and the future! act your business and Family emails and website to the next aim! It works in conjunction with an RRS L-plate which is also highly recommended if you do a lot of tripod bring home the bacon. For sports telephoto purposes I use the which mounts to the QR plate on the foot of a collared lens. I desire it a lot also. It's very light and strong highly configurable and with a couple o Two brackets I've used and others like as well are Custom Brackets and Newton Camera Brackets The first one is much heavier but provides a very stable platform for camera and radiate(es) including a handle that works well. After using it for a while. I opted for the Newton Bracket since it's about half the charge and is more compact as well. It doesn't turn quite as smoothly with a different mechanism concept but works quite w Here's my review of the bracket: and some with my D200. After shooting weddings all summer with it. I can still say it's the beat flash bracket I've used. And in combination with the L-plate (required) m Mike it looks like the bracket centers the radiate over the lens in both portrait and landscape. Is that true? I can see how adjusting the WP on the L-bracket would let you tweak the portrait lay but I don't see how it could be adjusted in landscape. Is there a way? Thanks. Doug Yes. the radiate is centred over the lens. You can act the bracket up and down somewhat on the vertical move of the L-plate to either get more height or carry in closer to the camera to make it more be. In horizontal position this will only increase or lower the radiate keeping it in the same lay over the lens. In vertical position it could act the flash 'off displace' from the lens. There isn't an index attach on the WP but I usually lay it centred on the index attach of the L-plates' vertical bar. It seems come up balanced when I then change by reversal to vertical on the tripod. It is more adjustable than my old Press-T bracket.. attaches more securely and locks when flipped. It also folds down It lines up about 5/8" left of lens bear on on my 1-series. I think I can live with that but I query if RRS are Nikon guys? ;-) LinkBack to this Thread: http://www prophotohome com/forum/lighting-equipment-technique/74124-flash-bracket-suggestions html

"BELLISSIMA on DVD in Britain" posted by ~Ray

Michael Walford in in compose to the September 2007 DVD channel of Luchino Visconti’s dramatic-comedy about a very devoted (appear)stage care (Anna Magnani as her usually Vesuvian self) and her young film-extra daughter in the British DVD distributor Eureka’s "Masters of Cinema" series: "It is a film which is sadly underwritten in English. Before any critical comment is made it is important to note that this film makes for excellent viewing. Visconti’s direction is superb and Anna Maganani [sic] excels in the leading role. "The come up known post-war history Italian Cinema by Peter Bondanella surprisingly fails to have in mind the enter at all. This film is very important for a number of reasons. It marks a convert from Neorealism to post-neorealism within Italian cinema; it is a meta-cinematic enter which deals in a biting comedy a critique of the institution of cinema itself — it thus predates [Federico] Fellini’s well known (1959) by several years; it can be taken as a strong indirect critique of the political direction Italy was taking at the time[,] as well as a critique of the Christian Democratic government’s relationship to America[ and] it gives many insights into the way Visconti worked as a director with his performers (Anna Magnani & Alessandro Blasetti [I believe the author means leading man Walter Chiari]); lastly and by no means least as a film it is good viewing — it appears as a favourite of Richard Dyer’s in one of [sic] surveys about favourite films of critics." "Historical Rialto Closes Its Doors" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-08-30 17:24:48

Francisco Vara-Orta writes about the sad end of South Pasadena’s Rialto one of Southern California’s remaining single-screen theaters. This past Sunday evening the Rialto closed its doors after 81 years in operation. "The Rialto opened its doors to the public Oct. 17. 1925 with organist Ray Metcalfe at the Wurlitzer and the Rialto orchestra accompanying the world do of Universal Pictures’ What Happened to Jones? Trapeze artists performed on a bill shared with vaudeville acts. Admission was 30 cents and searchlights sent from Hollywood shone outside alerting people to the opening. "With 10 dressing rooms a store a color room an orchestra pit and a deep stage the Rialto’s Spanish Baroque architecture and Egyptian-accented interior design bestowed a regal atmosphere that went beyond just catching a blink for those perched in its 1,200 seats. "But on Sunday about 30 people showed up for the first showing at 12:30 p m of The Simpsons Movie with the discounted matinee price of $6 for adults. About 200 people attended the measure show." According to one Rialto-goer that Sunday no one came to watch the movie. They were there to bid the theater good-bye. What Happened to Jones (top photo; I’m not sure if there’s a question mark at the end of the title) starred Reginald Denny one of the biggest box-office draws of the mid-1920s as a young poker player who after his game is raided by the police finds refuge at a Turkish clean — on ladies’ night. He ends up in drag and. I assume in the arms of leading lady Marion Nixon. William A. Seiter who’d have a long go in talkies directed.
